Mark King Director of Privacy Proactive

Mark King Director/Consultant of Privacy Proactive has been member of BRG Erina Thursday since August 2018.

I have 15 years experience in the Compliance and Risk area by working with DuPont as the Asia-Pacific Information Compliance Manager. The role involved establishing and managing IT Security and Controls, Privacy and Records Management programs. The scope was the A/P region as well as small business start-ups, joint ventures, acquisitions and diverstitures. As A/P Privacy Manager, I developed and implemented policies and procedures including Data Protection, Breach Notification Plan, Risk Assessments, Privacy Impact Assessment and training programs. Other expertise includes IT Management (35+ years IT experience), Project and Program Management, Change Management, Problem Management, and implementing diverse systems across Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing, HR and Finance.

Being a member of BRG has introduced me to a new business network on the Central Coast and helped me understand better the importance of building networks. I also enjoy learning from other small businesses the successes, and challenges they have and how to address them.

Other members have benefited from my services through more awareness about privacy obligations of Australian businesses and how to protect your businesses personal information better. They also become more aware of our responsibility in protecting our own data as individuals.

Although, early days as a member, what really sticks out for me is the importance of building networks and personal/one-on-one interaction with potential and existing clients.
