Ersel Akpinar is Special Counsel at Morgan + English Commercial Lawyers has been a member of Balmain BRG since June 2026.

With more than 25 years’ experience advising businesses across Australia and the Asia Pacific, Ersel works with business owners, directors, founders and management teams on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including governance, business acquisitions and sales, commercial contracts, private capital, intellectual property, technology, data protection and regulatory compliance. Throughout his career, he has worked across top-tier, boutique and in-house environments, and previously founded and led his own specialist corporate and technology law firm. He is known for providing commercially focused legal advice that is practical, strategic and aligned with his clients’ broader business objectives.

Before joining Morgan + English, Ersel founded and successfully led his own corporate, commercial and technology law firm for eight years, building a practice focused on helping businesses navigate growth, transactions, governance and innovation. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Coleman Greig Lawyers and Slater and Gordon, and began his legal career at Baker McKenzie. This breadth of experience enables him to advise clients with a unique perspective that combines top-tier legal expertise with the commercial insight of a business owner. He regularly acts as a trusted adviser to directors, executives and founders on complex, high-value and commercially sensitive matters.
